Billund: our fairytale trip to the home of LEGO®

Happy times at Legoland

British Airways gave passengers the chance to win a trip to LEGOLAND® Billund Resort in Denmark, to mark a year of flying to the town from Heathrow. One winning family wrote back to tell us all about their adventure in the birthplace of LEGO®. Here are some of the highlights …

“We had an absolutely fantastic time but are exhausted (in a good way!) as we packed so much in to the three days,” Philippa wrote.

You can tell the family really made the most of their prize. They managed to spend two whole days at LEGOLAND, as well as exploring the town and all it has to offer – and they had the time of their life.

Things to do in Billund

During time out from the theme park they discovered Billund town centre and the Sculpture Park, where art meets nature.

They also squeezed in a trip to Lalandia – Scandinavia’s largest tropical water park – and experienced the thrills of ice-skating. Philippa tells us: “The hotel and staff were amazing. We loved the themed rooms and corridors and the amazing LEGO sculptures dotted around the hotel.

“We have never stayed in a hotel on the site of a theme park before but loved that we could come and go all day.”

LEGO® prizes

The lucky winners also received two surprise boxes of LEGO, which they managed to resist opening until their return home.

Better still, British Airways didn’t hesitate to put them through as oversized baggage to ensure these gifts returned to Heathrow safe and sound. The letter ends with: “Once again thank you and your company for running such a fantastic competition, for picking our name out of the hat and for arranging all the flights and hotel.

“This truly was a memorable experience that has fuelled our interest in Scandinavian holidays.”
