Profile: Border Force Officer Katryn (Kat)

Kat and Bob at the border

Kat is a member of the team responsible for securing the UK border at Heathrow. In the first episode of HBBA Series 4 we followed Kat’s investigation of a traveller newly arriving from Nigeria.

Here’s what we asked Kat — tell us in the comments what else you’d like to know.

Q&A: Kat

Where are you from?

Maidenhead.

How long have you worked at Heathrow?

20 months.

How did you get into your job, and why?

I was an apprentice. I completed this and took on the permanent role afterwards.

What’s a day in the life of you like?

I never sit still. I’m super organised and always busy — both work and home life.

Favourite thing about your job?

That I meet different people on a daily basis and no two days are the same. Passengers are very interesting and I learn something new every day.
